Missing Person Located During Welfare Check

On April 26 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Gates Mills police officer observed a 78-year-old male sitting on the roadside near the intersection of Mayfield Road and West Hill Drive. Upon making contact, the officer noted the individual appeared confused and claimed he was attempting to walk to Wilson Mills Road. A computer check revealed the man had been reported missing out of Cleveland Heights. Police coordinated with the Cleveland Heights Police Department to safely return the man to his family.

Traffic Warrant Transfer and Lake County Assist

The department processed a warrant entry on April 19 involving a 31-year-old female from Mayfield Heights. The individual, who had an active traffic warrant through the village, was initially stopped by an Ohio State Trooper in Lake County. A Gates Mills officer met with the trooper to take custody of the female. She was transported to the station, where she paid the required fine and was subsequently released.

Utility Inspections and Residential Safety Alarms

Public safety officers responded to several calls involving residential activity and automated alarms. On April 22, a resident on Chestnut Run reported a suspicious male walking around their home via a Ring camera feed. Officers determined the individual was a First Energy worker performing authorized utility duties. Earlier in the week, on April 21, police and fire units responded to the Hunt Club Stable area for a fire alarm; the alarm was determined to be unfounded.

Wildlife Assistance at Chagrin River and Berkshire

In a show of community-oriented policing, an officer responded to a report of a turtle attempting to cross the roadway at the intersection of Chagrin River Road and Berkshire Road on April 23. Upon arrival, the officer found that a local landscaper had already safely assisted the turtle across the street, ensuring the animal's safety and preventing potential traffic hazards.
