Knight’s Field Spray Ground Closed for 2026; Free Bus Rides Offered to Freedlander Pool

Why the Spray Ground Is Closed

The decision came down to timing. All city aquatic facilities close for the season on Aug. 15, leaving too short a window to complete repairs and meaningfully serve residents. City officials said they want full transparency about the mechanical issues and the constraints that led to the closure.

Data also factored into the decision. Knight’s Field Spray Ground accounts for just 3% of all aquatic visits across Wooster’s facilities, making it the least-used water amenity in the city’s system.

Free Bus Rides to the Pool

To help residents who relied on Knight’s Field, Wooster’s public transit service, Wooster WayGo, is adding a temporary stop at Freedlander Pool starting Saturday, June 20.

Anyone who had planned to visit Knight’s Field can ride the WayGo Bus to Freedlander Pool at no charge. Riders should board at the Community Action bus stop and let the driver know they are heading to Freedlander Pool.

Children 12 and older may ride unaccompanied. Anyone under 12 must be with an adult.
