Man Fatally Shot in Conneaut Warrant Arrest Attempt

CONNEAUT, Ohio – On June 25, members of the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Special Response Team responded to the 600 block of Orange Street in Conneaut to execute felony warrants on an individual.

Upon arrival, law enforcement was met by family members who indicated the subject was in the basement with another person. Deputies safely removed the second individual from the location before attempting to take the warrant subject into custody.

Shooting Unfolds in Basement

After the extraction of the second person, the subject became non-compliant. Perceiving an immediate threat, Sheriff’s deputies and a Conneaut Police Department officer fired on the individual. The subject was fatally wounded.
