Solon Police Blotter: Assaults, Suspicious Packages, and Roadway Safety

A Cleveland woman allegedly assaulted a corrections officer and a Solon firefighter during a single OVI booking, while officers also recovered a loaded handgun, intercepted suspicious mail, and removed several drunk drivers from the road.

The Solon Police Department handled several significant incidents during the week of April 30, 2026, including a violent encounter at the Solon Jail and reports of suspicious mail. Officers also prioritized roadway safety, conducting multiple traffic stops that led to arrests for driving under the influence and the recovery of a loaded firearm during a routine stop.

Assault on Corrections Officer and Firefighter

On April 30 at approximately 2:11 a.m., a woman was brought to the Solon Jail at 33000 Solon Rd. by a Chagrin Falls officer following an arrest for a suspected OVI. During the booking process, the 23-year-old Cleveland resident became verbally abusive, refused to follow commands, and would not sit in the booking chair. As officers attempted to restrain her, she resisted and kicked a corrections officer.

The situation escalated after it was determined the woman had been in a prior car crash and required medical evaluation. While being transported to a local hospital by Solon Fire Medics under police escort, she struck a firefighter and damaged an SFD iPad. A 25-year-old male corrections officer later sought hospital treatment for a head injury sustained during the initial struggle. Charges for Assault on a Corrections Officer (F4), Assault on a Firefighter (F3), and Vandalism (F5) are likely.

Suspicious Package Investigation on Bainbridge Road

Later that morning at 9:14 a.m., a 25-year-old resident on the 32000 block of Bainbridge Road reported a suspicious package. The resident received a Flat Rate U.S. mail package containing a manila envelope filled with 17 unmarked pills she had not purchased.

Solon officers were unable to identify the pills by physical characteristics, and field tests for common illegal substances were inconclusive. Investigators discovered the return address on the package belonged to a vacant lot in Michigan. The pills were slated for destruction and the case was closed.

Menacing Incidents at Local Businesses

Solon officers investigated two separate reports of menacing behavior on April 30:

• KFC/Taco Bell (Enterprise Pkwy): A manager reported a threatening online review where a customer mentioned causing future violence. Officers contacted the 56-year-old Solon resident, who admitted he was drinking alcohol when he "took it too far" with the review. No charges were filed, but the man was issued a trespass warning.
• FedEx (SOM Center): An employee reported a customer became belligerent after being encouraged to use a self-scan machine. The man reportedly knocked over equipment and pushed his way back into the store when the employee tried to photograph his license plate. The incident is still under investigation.

Improper Handling of a Firearm and OVI Enforcement

On May 1, an officer stopped a Chevy Malibu at a gas station on SOM Center for dark window tint and a suspended registration. Upon the driver exiting the vehicle for a tow, the officer observed a loaded semi-automatic pistol in the door pocket. A 23-year-old Cleveland resident was arrested for Improper Handling of a Firearm and Driving Under Suspension.

The department also removed several impaired drivers from the road:

• The Annex Bar and Grille: On May 1, a 45-year-old Aurora woman was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after harassing patrons and telling officers "f@&% you, arrest me" when they tried to arrange a ride home for her.
• Aurora Road: On May 2, a 36-year-old Aurora man was stopped for traveling 54 mph in a 35-mph zone. He failed field sobriety tests and had his license suspended after refusing a breath test.
• US 422: On May 3, a 54-year-old Garrettsville woman was clocked at 80 mph in a 60-mph zone. Officers noted the odor of alcohol and slurred speech; she was arrested for OVI after poor performance on field sobriety tests and a breath test refusal.
