Solon Police Reports: Death Threats Follow TikTok Scam; Customer Assault Reported at Circle K

Burglary

A Solon woman, residing at 34700 Pk East #203A, reported that her apartment was broken into and items were taken. The report indicates that the front door handle lock appeared to have been forced open, possibly utilizing a wrench, which resulted in the lock breaking. The reporting party noted that the deadbolt on the door was not in use at the time of the incident. Missing property includes cash, designer shoes, and various fashion accessories. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating this incident.

Menacing

A juvenile female and her father visited the Solon Police Department lobby at 34485 Pettibone Rd. to file a report concerning threatening text messages. The female had initially received a message from an individual claiming to be an artist on TikTok who requested to use her photo for a painting. The artist subsequently sent her what appeared to be a fraudulent check totaling $992.45 and instructed her to deposit it into her bank account.

After the juvenile provided a receipt for the transaction, the artist sent a second check for the same amount, which was not deposited. The individual then began demanding the return of the money from the first check, which had not yet cleared. This disagreement escalated into severe threats, including messages sent by the artist stating: "send them their money or you will pay with your life" and "you will die". The check is reported as still pending clearance. The victim has since blocked the individual’s account and phone number. The person reporting the incident did not request any further police follow-up at this time.

Assault

Officers responded to an assault call at the Circle K located at 29605 Aurora Rd.. A female employee contacted police, reporting that she had been assaulted by a female customer. The suspect was driving a white Kia hatchback and was accompanied by two children.

The incident began when the customer entered the store and asked the employee for directions to an address in Cleveland. The employee attempted to assist the customer by lending her personal cellphone. The customer then became argumentative and was swearing at the employee, who subsequently advised the customer to leave the property. The female suspect left the store and went to her vehicle by the gas pumps, but then returned and began banging on the store window to gain the employee’s attention.

The employee then went back outside to reiterate that the woman needed to leave. At this point, the customer allegedly grabbed the employee by the neck and began hitting her, then proceeded to throw her to the ground. A male customer intervened and broke up the physical altercation. The female suspect left the scene before officers arrived. Responding officers utilized store video footage and determined the possible suspect. The suspect has since been identified, and the case has been forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
